Description

Joel Helmer, Professor of Geography and Chair of Department of History, Geography and Criminal Justice, Concordia University, Nebraska. Covering over 19,500 square miles, the Sandhills of Nebraska is the largest dune field in the Western Hemisphere and contains one of the most expansive tracts of native prairie in North America.  Over the last decade I have spent many hours and much boot leather exploring this beautiful landscape while also leading numerous student field trips into the region.  This presentation shares the unique geography of the Sandhills.
